Arguedas Mendieta, Antonio

Bolivian political leader (b. 1929?, Bolivia - d. Feb. 22, 2000, La Paz, Bol.), rose to become Bolivia's minister of the interior during the 1964 - 69 military dictatorship of Gen. Ren´┐Ż Barrientos; recruited by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency in 1965, he aided efforts to defeat a guerrilla group in eastern Bolivia led by Che Guevara.
